Was doing a gig and saw balloons with Happy Birthday at a table (Millennials). So Im dedicating a song or two to them and they dont respond with as much as a look in my direction. I see their heads bowed for quite a while so I thought, Oh, they must be praying. They must be religious. But then I saw they were all actually locked-in to their cell phones. Sitting in a circle staring at their phones! Who needs a live musician trying to do something memorable for your birthday.. when you have a cell phone, huh? I hope this shit is a fad. When their cake came and I made up a dumb song for the candle blow they eventually responded, so all is not totally lost.. yet.
