Was on BBC Radio Manchester a few mins ago about 1893 FAC final in Manchester. Here are a few extra snippets - There were 192 police trying to keep the peace (nowhere near enough according to later reports); the crowd was officially 45,000 but estimated at 60,000 - whatever the truth it exceeded the previous FA Cup final record by at least 13,000; held at the Manchester Athletic ground (later the Reg Harris Stadium) & selected above Bank St & Hyde Rd; game became known in late years as the Fallowfield Fiasco due to spectators encroaching on the pitch; site is now part of Fallowfield student accomodation for the Manchester Uni.
