Was out in Suffolk County, Long Island today visiting my boyfriends parents when I heard a descending trill repeatedly coming from the backyard. I couldnt get a good look at the bird before it flew off, but was pretty sure based on the call that it was a carolina wren. When I went to check online later, I found that I was correct! Learning to identify birds solely by call has been very rewarding and Im excited at how quickly it can be picked up.
