Washing Machine Uses “Robot Fish” To Wash Your Clothes And Doesn’t Require Soap Technology and its continual development has provided us with many wonders in modern life, including facilitating household chores that always need to be done. The industrial designer Chan Jeong Yeop Pecera is working on a a robot that promises to wash clothes without using soap. The product was inspired by Doctor Fish, a technique where fish gather around human skin, more precisely the feet, to clean them by eating the dead cells and foreign particles. In Pecera, Doctor Fish style robots, or rather artificial fish affectionately named Dofi, follow the same concept except that the machine is able to locate the clothes’ dirt molecules with a small camera and eliminate them through suction. Besides it’s obvious utility, it’s design was also carefully thought through since washing machines are usually cumbersome and heavy and contribute nothing to the house decoration. Like a modern and sophisticated tank, the washing machine uses hydroelectric power, does not need as much water as a conventional one, cause less environment pollution since it uses no laundry detergent, and is overall much more sustainable. In the Electrolux Design Lab website, which is always looking for new talent, Jeong explains the idea simply: “I designed a washing machine aquarium ‘Pecera’ and Doctor Fish robot ‘Dofi’ that eats dirt away from clothes, and cleans them without using detergent, which makes the whole society clean and healthy and people as well who wear the clothes.” Source: Electrolux Design Lab
