Washington County Vice Chair Tracey Johnson and Commissioner D. Cole Phelps will serve on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) for 2013-14. Phelps, the youngest Commissioner in the state, was appointed to a one-year term on the board as an at-large member by NCACC President Ray Jeffers of Person County. The NCACC president appoints five at-large members to the Board of Directors to serve a one-year term. The at-large members are appointed to ensure balance on the Board of Directors.
