Watch and Act Issued For: Maroona Fire Origin: MOYSTON Incident Name: CFA & DEPI - MOYSTON - BETTER ROUTE RD Issued: 03/01/15 10:28 AM This is an updated Watch and Act message issued by Country Fire Authority for Maroona. The MOYSTON grassfire is currently not yet under control. The head of the fire has been halted, however extreme weather conditions today could cause fire activity to increase and possible over run containment lines. Firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment will be working on this fire all day. The fire is approximately 4700ha in size. Erratic winds are predicted this afternoon and a wind change is expected early in the evening. Dont wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency Services may not be able to help you. Travel to; - Relief Centres at Ararat Town Hall and Lake Bolac Town Hall. - The home of family or friends that is away from the warning area. - Regional areas such as Ararat or Lake Bolac. Traffic Management Points are in place in the following locations: Ararat Halls Gap Road at Jallukur (near Pomonal) and west of Ararat at the Rhymney intersection. Moyston Willaura Road at the Andrews Road intersection. Moyston Great Western Road at the Rhymney Road intersection. Moyston Dunkeld Road at Barton Station. Andrews lane at the Mortlake Ararat Road intersection. Denicull Creek Road at the intersection of Mortlake Ararat Road. Note for farmers who have affected livestock: You may take action to humanely destroy animals provided you; a) Contact your insurance agency as soon as possible. b) Take photographs to show condition of livestock. c) Record any other information that insurer requests. d) Record numbers of animals dead or destroyed. The next update is expected by 03/01/15 12:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety information: Remember to take your prescriptions and medication, photo ID, bottles of water, your mobile phone and charger and consider what you will do with your pets. When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights; smoke will make it difficult to see. If you have time, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions.
