Watched The Promised Land, starring Matt Damon, last night on TV. What a big, fat, ugly crock of crap. Hollywood once again doesnt surprise me at all, making a movie that blatantly throws more wood on the fire that the media and left wing activist groups started over hydraulic fracturing. Myths, hype, and false information being treated as fact is not cool in my book. Yes, it is a fact that there have been companies that have taken shortcuts and messed up in the past, but people must understand that that happens in EVERY industry! Hydraulic fracturing is highly regulated, controlled, and inspected by the Feds as well as special interest groups and state and local agencies. Almost all operators in this field are very professional, qualified, capable producers. As has been stated so many times, hydraulic fracturing has been the primary method of gas production for almost 6 decades now. It is only more visible now thanks to media hype, activist scare tactics, and now, Hollywood. Do not get me wrong, my hope for our future is a world free from dependence on fossil fuels, but I am still realistic, logical, and capable of having some common sense. We NEED energy as a civilization. And natural gas is the cleanest, most efficient form we currently have, and people, theres a LOT of it down there. Getting to it is difficult, but very doable. Do your research. Ignore the myths and what the media would have you believe. Just think about this: What would you rather have? Up to ten vertical deep wells drilled on your 1000 acres of rich, beautiful Pennsylvania farm land, or one single directional, deep, hydraulic fractured well. It makes sense! Less possibility for error, less unsightly drill pads, less geological stress, and greater efficiency of production. Please. Do your homework. Ignore the media. It has lost its credibility in the energy industry. Form your own opinions, based on fact, not fiction. Soap box time complete.
