Watched me a few movies. Philomena: Judy Dench is a master. Fantastic acting all around. Amazing story full of unexpected twists. The Wrong Man: Unbelievably engaging movie about someone falsely accused. Peter Fonda is terrific. Hitchcock really was a genius. Blitz: a terrible cop/action thriller about Britains answer to Dirty Harry. I decided I was simply eating paste, watching it. But I watched to the end, all the same. The Walking Dead / The Talking Dead: A marathon viewing to catch up on season 4. Oddly, this soap opera followed by group therapy left me cold (no pun intended). There is only so much character development that I can take, and after 4 years of watching these people devolve into homicidal maniacs I have to say that I am losing the plot. The undead have become nothing more than a greek chorus (albiet a rotting one that, thankfully, occassionally eats the overwrought). Like extras from the Thriller music video, these guys look horrifying, but there doesnt seem to be much to them. They exist only to drive the amorality of the principal characters, with the bonus of exploding heads. The gore, once shocking, is now routine...and kind of dull. I turned off the midseason episode because, frankly, it was a rerun of the previous 4 seasons. The tedium of this series is accentuated by the talk show that follows. I suppose any show like this needs some kind of catharsis for its viewers: PTSD by proxy is a nasty business. The truth is I will probably keep watching.
