Watching the Evolution of Evil about Goebbles transformation from being a communist sympathizer to being the fountainhead of Hitlers most vociferous evil plans. Goebbles was given over to despair with the uncertainty of capitalism and the struggle. So he threw his lot in with the Communists until he met Hitler. It was easy to make the transition for him from socialism to fascism. Perhaps that is because socialist and fascist leaders both have to behave in exactly the same way. They both set out to consolidate authority in a small ruling elite in order to overcome the inefficiency of democracy. They are not willing to gain public support through wrestling with the people over values and issues which take time and compassion to understand and implement. This reminds me of Obama. It reminds me of the Supreme Court decision last week which invalidated all of Obamas illegal recess appointments which he justified due to the inefficiency of those who dared to disagree with him. That case shows how Obama really feels about democracy. He despises it. Its beneath him. Socialism and Fascism have details which distinguish them but they are the same thing as a practical matter. They are about taking away the inefficiency of democracy believing that absolute power does not corrupt those who possess it.
