Way to go Facebook! Although, in general, I hate the thought of paying per friend, it certainly will discourage those with multiple fake accounts since it will now cost them plenty of money to do so. Facebook has announced a tiered pay per friend type pricing structure. Its not too bad, and not as bad as it seems and well worth the benefits weve been getting for free. Starting on June 15th, we will be asked to pay an annual $10 fee which includes 100 friends on our friends list for free. For 101-500 friends there will be a monthly fee of $2 total, with an additional $ .25 per month each additional increment 500 friends. So if you have the maximum of 5,000 friends, it will cost $10 annual plus $2/month for up to 500 and then an additional $2.25 month for the additional 4,500, totaling $4.75/month ($57/year) plus the $10 annual fee. That is the maximum, so considering all of the server space it requires etc, to keep Facebook operational, it seems like a fair deal, although FREE seemed a lot better - AND most annoying ads will be removed - and thats a good thing.
