You aren’t what you do. If you are what you do, then when you don’t … you aren’t. For decades now Ive encouraged everyone to believe that making a good living at what you love is a possibility. If you stay on purpose and are committed to following your bliss, the universal one mind will cooperate with you in bringing this to fruition. The right people will show up, the obstacles will be swept away, the necessary circumstances will materialize, and guidance will be there. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you dont know anything about. What is clear to me today is that I must ignore the opinions and advice of others when they interfere with my own inner knowing. It is enough for me to know that I have a song, and by God, I intend to sing it. You can have all visits back home be fond experiences, if you get a firm handle on your own struggle for independence from your parents. And if you model self-pride and self-worth for your children, they will in turn leave the nest with an absence of stress and turmoil for all concerned. If you are facing in the right direction, all you need to do is keep on walking. The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen. Becoming the observer (step back) you begin to live in process, trusting where our source is taking you. You begin to detach from the outcome. That detachment allows you to stop fighting and allows things to just come to you; you no longer make things happen but allow them to show up. The fight is gone! This road will be new because you will see a given emotion as a choice rather than a condition of life. Im convinced that some of our greatest and most influential teachers show up in our lives disguised as people we resent or even despise. By believing passionately in something that does not yet exist we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired. If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. A truer barometer of intelligence is an effective, happy life lived each day and each present moment of every day. Wisdom is knowing I am nothing, love is knowing I am everything, and between the two my life moves.
