We Do Regret Not for the faint of heart these days of endless war each tile of grief set separately within dark confines of loneliness beseeches those lost in battle to remember that final glimpse of the beloved disappearing into the oblivion of thought We do regret We do regret the closing of the day As a fractured moon gazes in abject wonder we who fail to understand never reclaim our souls losing precious seconds of our allotted time We do regret We do regret the misuse of our days Screams of anguish cannot shatter smug smiles of self-satisfaction rampant among those with jaundiced eyes ad nauseam dead to human suffering We do regret We do regret the folly of our ways. © October 20, 2014 Jane Lynahan Karklin
