~ We Serve at the Community Table Tomorrow, Sat. 26, 2013 ~ *Help Needed * From Fr. Jim: Dear sisters and brothers in Christ, This Saturday, October 26th, is Christ Church’s turn to serve at the Community Table I in Albemarle for the “Saturday Soup Kitchen.” The menu will be goulash (see recipe below), salad, dinner rolls, tea, and desserts. If you can help us by volunteering to serve, and/or to bring food items (--you can leave them in the kitchen of the church hall on Saturday, no later than 10 a.m.), we’d appreciate it! Here’s what we’ll need: (Please respond to this email [email protected]) Items still needed: 2 batches of goulash 150 dinner rolls 5 more volunteers to help at the Community Inn *Goulash recipe (for 1 batch): 1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey), browned and drained 1 lb. elbow macaroni, cooked and drained 2 medium-sized jars of spaghetti sauce (e.g., Prego, Ragu) Cook and drain ground beef or turkey. Put ground meat in a pot; mix in one jar of spaghetti sauce. Cook over low heat. Gently add the cooked & drained elbow noodles. Add extra spaghetti sauce as needed. (The noodles will absorb much of the sauce, so that both jars of sauce will be needed.) Thank you in advance for helping us to feed our sisters and brothers this Saturday morning!
