We all have children in our lives and we owe it to them to take a few minutes to see this message. This one of the strongest messages I have ever seen about the sad and tragic future of the health of our kids, RIGHT NOW. The food industry spends about $2.2 billion dollars a year, marketing to kids and teenagers.One of the goals is to build "brand loyalty", which can last a lifetime. If a child watches a typical amount of television in a year, they will be seeing approximately 4,600 advertisements every single year...the majority pushing foods and drinks that have no nutritional value and are mostly egregiously high in fat, sugar and salt. Junk food marketing to children and teens has now become nearly impossible to avoid, especially when these foods are available to kids in their own schools and even classroom curricula and events are sponsored by junk food brands like Oreo cookies, Nestle chocolate drinks, M&Ms and Fruit Loops! Now, with over 70% of kids using social media, these companies are moving their targeted marketing straight to the kids via their computers and cell phones and they find ways of getting all their personal data including city, zip codes and even their cell phone numbers! I urge you to PLEASE share this video with your friends and family. It will get everyone thinking. Something must change.
