We all know what OCD is (obsessive compulsive behavior). But do - TopicsExpress

We all know what OCD is (obsessive compulsive behavior). But do we know that we also have OCL (obsessive compulsive language). Recently, I’ve become more aware of other people’s OCL. It’s not that simple I can’t do that I’m afraid to try These are just some of the OCL’s that I myself used in the past. Until I realized that these words, not my ability to do what I can do, but just these words were enough to immobilize me and keep me from growing, from experiencing, from taking steps to a better life. It wasn’t until I changed my OCL that I was able to break free from my own labels and definitions of myself. And I also realized that my OCL’s also contributed to my OCD’s. Instead of saying It’s not that simple, my new language is “it is simple” I can’t do that is now “I can do that” I’m afraid to try is now “I want to try” And when you think about it, why can’t you and what are you afraid of unless you try and confront the situation. I remember my father’s words since I was a child when it came to trying new food or a new activity. He would say, have you ever tried this dish, my answer would be no, and he would respond will then how can you say you don’t like it, if you never tried it. Such a simple thought right. And it’s a simple thing to change your mindset from negative to positive. We create problems that have not even manifested by simply saying I can’t. And the best way to reverse this effect is to simply become AWARE of your OCL and CHANGE THE STORY. And until you are able to do that, you will never know just how capable you are to grow, to experience and to follow whatever journey or dream you have in your heart. And for me, changing my OCL has changed my life from just being to EPIC. Inspired Living………..Ivonne
