We are a whinny and petty people, as Americans. Often there is conflict in families over the silliest things, while each person defends their own right to be any way they want to be. As a nation we are fighting in the government houses over which faction will get their own way, each being opposite of one another, in their basic philosophical foundations, neither of which are based on the Bible. Most people are intolerant of correction, lashing out at anyone who would attempt to redirect their thinking. However, they will receive nearly any foolish notion that comes along, as long as it is popular. All reasonable discussion is disallowed in favor of intimidation and manipulation. Many of the pastors in the pulpits have integrated so much psychology and pragmatic speech, that the people sitting in the pews are not able to understand truth, they are being fed baby food based on secular humanism. I have said it and I have heard others say it....correction is the new evil. Without direction, training and correction we cannot excel in what really matters. We flounder, unsure of what is right, left to our own devices or the devices of others who influence us, we place our brains on hold, because it is easier to let others tell us what to believe than to develop our own values based on the Bible. If we base our values on Gods principles, then we will have to study His Word, obey what He says and stand against the tide of the culture. Seems frightening to those who think they have to do it in their own power. However, as believers we dont have to exert our own power, we can give it all to God and let Him do it in us. He can give us all we need at the time it is needed, but we have to do our homework, through prayer and scripture study. 2 Timothy 2:15 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. When we place our trust in our own power, we lose the ability to stand strong for what is righteousness. After all, how can we stand strong in the Lord if we are not sure of what we believe, or if our actions and reactions are based on how others will feel about us? We will not fail when we trust in the power of Christ in us. He will make us what we should be if we submit to Him. There is no excuse for thinking with our own mind, when we can think with the mind of Christ. Ephesians 6:10-19 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel
