We are approaching the 70th anniversary of the battle of Peleiu. Sept 15, 1944. I am humbled and honored to be attending the event (as a volunteer) to act as interpreter for former WWII Japanese Navy veteran Kiyokazu Tsuchida, and former WWII Marine Bill Darling. Kiyokazu is one of the 34 japanese who held out on Peleliu until 1947. Bill was engaged in the fight at Hunts point which resulted in a Medal of Honor for Captain Hunt of K Company. The event will be held 9/15 on Peleliu and be covered by Japanese NHK News and Yomiyuri News. It is always heartwarming to see the level of respect shown by former combatants towards each other.
