We are back on track! After several months of soul searching as to what the core purpose and identity of the smetradezone will be, and how it should best offer what it does, we have settled upon a vision and strategy that we believe walks the fine line between giving away as much as we can to help all SMEs while allowing us to generate an income without having to resort to using that tired old chestnut of advertising as our revenue model - and still being able to sleep at night knowing that we arent ripping anyone off. We will be dividing membership into two tiers; the free one that will allow small businesses to make use of most features of the smetradezone and the paid tier (we still have to come up with cool names for both) that will offer a range of value-adds for a very reasonable monthly fee. We maintain our commitment to offering a quality toolset that allows businesses to promote their products/services, connect with one another to trade and network and obtain decent online resources and training without costing anything. However, we want to offer a premium service for those businesses that want to really exploit everything the smetradezone has to offer and get great mileage out of their membership. Its a difficult balancing act and, no doubt, what is offered in each tier will need to be refined as time goes on according to the feedback we receive. We are still in beta phase and will be encouraging everyone we come across to give the smetradezone a test drive - and hopefully, provide feedback. This is a community-based project that depends on an active community of users and we are keen to hear what small businesses out there want and need (and we will do whatever we can to incorporate popular requests and ideas into the smetradezone).
