We are happy to announce the publication of the second issue of the 2013 Journal of World-Systems Research, which features, among other great contributions, a lively symposium, “A crisis of what”? Read some of the latest thinking about today’s crises from leading scholars, including Christopher Chase-Dunn, Leo Panitch, Thomas Reifer, William I. Robinson, and Saskia Sassen. These essays help situate understandings of global crisis within a world-systemic perspective, offering insights into nature and sources of the interconnected global crises and responses to crises being put forward by elites and by popular movements. You’ll also find in this issue an interview with Immanuel Wallerstein on the origins of world-systems analysis, and articles by William Carroll and J.P. Sapinski on transnational alter-globalization networks, Roy Kwon on the impacts of tariff reduction on economic growth, Jonathan Leitner on the historical development of trade networks and colonial influence, and Patrick Ziltener and Daniel Künzler on the impacts of colonialism. We also have a book review section featuring recent works in the field.
