We are raised in a generation where everyone has their own opinion - TopicsExpress

We are raised in a generation where everyone has their own opinion of truth, their own interpretation of the Bible, their own idea of what is right and wrong. Every belief, each denomination, every person with an opinion shouts to make themselves heard. The storm of human opinion thunders around us. It blinds us with the pelting stings of conflict, it clouds our thoughts with the fog of confusion, the furious winds of doctrine blow us from one thought to the next, never knowing what to believe. We sit helpless in the never-ending storm, just sitting and waiting… always waiting for that ray of truth to break through the clouds with a small glimpse of hope. It’s time that we stopped letting the storm blow us in circles, take hold of the oars of life, and press through until we once again can see the light. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:14 “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine,” But that having unity in the faith, we should speak the truth in love. There is only one truth and one way, Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) It is time for Christians all over the world to put aside their pet doctrines, to stop trying to make the Word of God fit their opinions, and start forming their opinions based on the absolute truth of the Word of God. We cannot allow ourselves to be satisfied with the once a week spoon feedings of the Sunday morning pulpit. We cannot blindly accept whatever truth is being offered to us at the moment. We must “Study to show ourselves approved... rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” (2 Tim 2:15) “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:20) If you aren’t sure what to believe… Don’t just settle for what your pastor, your church, or your denomination teaches. Don’t blindly take whatever the people around you are offering. Seek out the truth for yourself, knowing that the Spirit of truth is come, and “dwelleth with you, and shall be in you,” (John 14:17) and “will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13) Make the choice today to be like the noble men of Berea; who “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things (which Paul taught) were so.” (Acts 17:11)
