We are ready to dump PDP – G7 Adamawa State governor, Murtala - TopicsExpress

We are ready to dump PDP – G7 Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, has said that it is not a must for him to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and announced his preparedness and that of G7 governors to dump the party. The governor made the disclosure yesterday in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State shortly after a closed door meeting with Governor Sule Lamido. According to him, defecting from one party to another has never been a crime, observing that if some people can dump their religion for another, then why can’t politicians dump one party for another party? Governor Nyako explained that the party’s leadership in Abuja had given the party a bad image, following their flagrant abuse of party philosophy and democratic tenets. He noted that PDP was already gasping and nobody would allow himself to be buried along with any lifeless body. He also described the recent threat by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to expel the G7 governors from PDP as an empty threat that cannot stop them from practising true democracy. On the meeting he had with Governor Lamido, he said it was mainly to discuss the security, economic and political challenges militating against their states and the country. He revealed that this was not the first time they had had such meeting which is with a view to rubbing minds and finding solutions to their common problems. Yesterday’s closed door meeting was held barely 24 hours after Governor Lamido held a similar meeting with Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State on their political struggle under the New PDP.
