We are responsible for over 9,000 kilometres of power lines across Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Taupo, so we annually carry out Aerial Surveys to assess the condition of our overhead electricity network and look for potential trouble spots. We’re currently surveying in the Hawke’s Bay region and to do this, we use a low flying helicopter to check for faults on the overhead power lines and poles, otherwise unseen from the ground.
