We are so excited for the next couple coming weeks!!!!! Novas new gear from Ride To Give will be starting to show up next week!!!!!! We are so blessed. I have gone from not being able to believe this is happening, to flat out excited to see nova get the equipment she needs, as well as the toys she wants and a safe new bed so that we can have peace of mind while we sleep. We are just so so so excited and so is nova. Here is our gameplan: -iPad coming next week. -Bed is ordered and coming in 3-4 weeks. -Looking at the best of the best video monitors. -Looking for a functional iPad stand so that she can watch movies while she lays down. -Gonna get the sparkliest pinkest bath chair on the market. -and also the sparkliest pinkest rody max bouncy/therapy horse. -and SO much more. Nova is going to be so cute decked out with all her new stuff. I am so excited for her to have the best of the best!!!! And last but not least..... I want to give back. All of this has happened for us because of another family receiving the same blessing and wanting to pay it forward by nominating nova as a cause for ride to give. In the next week I will be going through all of Novas clothes and giving away everything that she will be growing out of soon because we can buy her a new wardrobe now. The bouncy horse she has now is basically brand new, but too small for nova so I want to give that away too. Her toddler bed is NOT the best, but the mattress is in brand new condition with hot pink polka dot sheets. I know someone can use it. Toys, jackets, I have a bunch of stuff that I want a child in need to have. I know giving these things away is a small gesture compared to what we have received, but I need to start somewhere. Its hard for me to admit this, but we never would have been able to afford any of this for nova by ourselves. The bed by itself cost 3 thousand dollars. The bath seat is upwards of 500. This equipment is very, very expensive. Before all of this happened, we were basically just making the best of what we had. We got a bean bag donated to us, we have been bathing nova on the carpet in the living room, and I found her a toddler bed on craigslist for 15 dollars. I put pink sheets on it and buffed out some of the scratches and I was proud of it. I AM proud of it. But her new bed.... Is the Cadillac of special needs beds. I am more than proud of it, I LOVE it. Its no 15 dollar craigslist bed. Its going to change the way we sleep and the way we live. I laid in bed with nova this morning and played a video for her on my phone. The video was of her and I laughing. I swear to you, she stopped talking and kicking and got really still and looked up at my phone with her big blue eyes. She is starting to see again, and she just laid there with her eyes still and watched herself laughing on that video. And seeing her eyes so still and focused is so freaking special to me, my heart could explode. So we can set her new iPad up on a stand, and let her watch her barney while she falls asleep. Nova has been on Sabril since she was a few months old so she never really had a fair chance to see. She was born with underdeveloped optic nerves, so she could only see a little bit to begin with, but high doses of Sabril DOES take whatever vision you have, away. But since weve pulled her off a lot of that drug, she is really starting to use the bit of vision she has for the first time in her life. Its amazing to see. Its amazing to get to be next to her when shes discovering something new. Basically, this couldnt have come at a better time. My god, nova deserves this so much. I cant even explain to you how much she needed this. We could have continued to get by with what we had but this fundraiser that you guys did for us has given us a powerful boost in the right direction that so many special needs families need so badly. We didnt even know how bad we needed this. I think that goes for many families like us. I have always been grateful for what we have so I didnt notice how we were kind of just making the best of what little we had. To know that now, we can give her THE best instead of working with the scraps we were given has made all the difference in our lives. Friends, stay humble, stay beautiful, and if you havent already.... PLEASE check out ride to give. This amazing non profit is changing lives like ours on the daily. Simply put, a WONDERFUL group of people. I am not sure they are aware of what a good thing they are doing for children like my daughter..... So Kaete, Barbara, the people that run ride to give.... If you are reading this, know that you are helping to give these children a better quality of life that they wouldnt have had otherwise. NEVER stop doing what you do. And THANK you . ((One love))
