We are so grateful to those who have reached out to us to offer their support in regards to the fire. Every year we live with the fear of knowing how vulnerable we are being in such a remote location such as Lovell Canyon. This fire trumps all others. As you’ve been informed from the media, we’ve lost thousands of acres of our national recreation areas. During the past week, the fire has crept eerily close to our perimeters and with the help of our local and national firefighters; they’ve been able to keep the fire from burning any of our direct premises. But every day we are still uncertain as to what the results of that day will be. We delayed in posting any updates out of hope that this fire would be contained and Torino Ranch would be out of danger and that “that” would be our posting. But currently our situation looks like this: Torino Ranch is a large part of the fire fighting efforts and has been converted into a command post basecamp for over 200 firefighters, and the lake at the ranch is one of the water sources being used to help fight the fires. Our deepest appreciation goes out to all of the Firefighters who are so dedicated to saving the ranch. We know they put their lives on the line every day and we are forever grateful. Our camp programs: at this time we are under mandatory evacuation indefinitely. We’ve had to cancel our Camp Imagine program and our Camp Heart & Sole program. We have 4 more programs scheduled for this summer and our hope is that this fire is part of our history, and that we can move forward with providing campers at Camp Cartwheel, Camp TLC and Camp Some More some very special memories from yet another wonderful camp experience at Torino Ranch. To everyone who is signed up to participate in those programs, we will keep you posted as we receive information. We realize we are not the only ones affected and who lives have been impacted forever due to this fire. To all those in Trout Canyon, Kyle Canyon and Mt Charleston and anyone else affected by this fire, our hearts are with you and we are continuously sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.
