We are taught that some day god and the devil will have the final showdown and Satan will be vanquished and all those that follow Satan will be destroyed with him. And where does this devil come from? Well the devil is alleged to have been a defector, a fallen angel that rebelled against god, and set out to do his own thing- this is all so weird and cockamamie, in my opinion. There is a significant symbolism at the core of the doctrine of Original Sin, but the story, to a great extent, is a tale designed to fix and reconcile the confusing discrepancies between the grim circumstances of human life and a creator god alleged to be the epitome of love, charity, and devotion.
