We at Chouteau Pound Pals would like to give a shout out, a pat on the back, kudos, applause, praise, thanks and maybe even a trophy to a group of neighbors that have been feeding and trying to catch this small black dog for months. She has eluded them every time but she eventually slowed down enough to have 5 puppies! The puppies are safely contained in a garage that momma can get in and out of to take care of her babies (but still wont allow anyone to get close enough to touch her). These wonderful people are going to get this mother dog spayed and let her continue to be the neighborhood pet unless or until she decides to let one of them be her true family! At this point all but one of the puppies are spoken for (there is a possible on the 5th one but no firm commitment yet). When your days, weeks and months are filled with trying to find homes for stray dogs that once had a family but are no longer wanted, it is refreshing to find a group of people that are willing to take on the responsibility of caring for a dog that not only doesnt belong to them but also doesnt even trust them! It is a relief to hear that they want to go out of their way to figure out how to catch this girl so that she can be spayed and never have a litter again! Responsible people...restores your faith in mankind.
