We broke the natural cycle a long time ago and will pay the price indefinitely. We are supposed to : Grow a crop of plants naturally. Feed a farm animal with that crop or eat it ourselves. Grow the farm animal. While it is growing it is pooping and breathing. Our breath and the farm animals breath feeds the trees. The farm animal and human poop gets turned into compost for the next crop. Grow a crop of plants naturally from this compost and repeat the cycle. This is called a Natural Closed System. It worked for a very long time, until we ruined it by over-populating the planet. What we instead do is this: Grow a crop with chemicals. Feed the animal and ourselves these chemical-laden plants. The animal gets sick from eating these plants. Humans get sick from eating these plants or when we eat the animals that ate these plants. Humans and animals poop and we throw this poop into the ocean. We destroyed the naturally occurring closed system. It can not be fixed. I am more concerned about this than anything related to the ethics of eating animals. This is something that will not end even if the whole world goes vegan. We do not have enough space to grow plants for 8 billion people. So I focus on what I can do best for my health and source my animal products as best as I can. Grass-fed meats, grass-fed butter, organic eggs, raw milk, organic yogurt, organic raw nuts, organic fruits and vegetables. It is not as expensive as you think if you are willing to cook your own food.
