We condemn ISIS the new Khawarij - a historical extremist aberration - a group that has raised its ugly head again being intolerant towards muslims and non-Muslims. The Muslim world has been in uproar since they desecrated and shamelessly destroyed the blessed shrines of Prophet Jonah and Prophet Seth then that off the Sunni Muslim Saint imam Rafai Kabeer as well as many others including Mosques. Not just stopping there but then executing custodians, caretakers and devotees at these shrines and places of worship because they charge them for what they deem committing polytheism (shirk) and bidah (innovation) against God- a common slogan of this terrorist group. No mainstream Sunni Muslim is safe from their hatred and aggression. We out rightly condemn the death of innocent including that of members of the free media that are there doing a courageous job to highlight the unfolding realities to the wider world via the camera lens from the front lines. It is sad to see recently both in Gaza and in lands controlled by ISIS the press are not safe from doing their work constantly being threatened and attacked when they are simply risking their lives as professional journalists alongside their crews to bring unfolding updates to the outside world. There have been a string of gross violations of human rights in the Middle East in recent weeks. ISIS hotch potch band of terrorists persecution of the Yezedis and Shiites (and other minorities). Earlier it was the state terrorism of Israelis indiscriminate disproportionate collective killing of Palestinians with complete disregard for human rights or fear of being charged with war crimes. The world urgently needs to unite on common universally agreed principles that need to be upheld and enforced without the stench of double standards or the fog of allowing special leniency for so called friends. We need to leave a world in better position for the next generation or we will be responsible for creating another generation disgruntled with and untrusting of global leaders, our legal justice framework and worldwide security institutions which I fear will be a recipe for even greater disaster. ISIS are exploiting and subverting the title Islamic State making it appear barbarically intolerant of co-religionists and non-Muslims. But we clearly know historically 100s of millions of Hindus, Christians and even Jews have been living in general overall safety an protection of the Islamic states NOT systematically eradicated by genocidal strategies.
