We continue our FMFD Firefighter Spotlight with Jesse Wenger. Jesse began his career with the Flower Mound Fire Department in 1998, after obtaining his fire and EMT certifications from Odessa College and his paramedic certification from Texas A&M-Commerce. As a paramedic, Jesses treatment of his patients and their family has been with the highest level of care and respect and most importantly, compassion. This commitment was one of the reasons Jesse was name Paramedic of the Year in 2005. Jesse was appointed as a Field Training Paramedic and for several years was one of a few in the department responsible for the overall orientation of newly hired paramedics. Jesse was one of the first Child Safety Seat Technicians in the Fire Department and still holds his certification today. In 2010, Jesse was promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator. Not only is Jesse responsible for driving the fire engine, but he also is responsible for operating the pumps and calculating the optimum water pressure for the hoses while on scene at a fire. Jesse was named Fire Apparatus Operator of the year twice, in 2011 and 2013, and can be seen driving Engine 501 on B Shift. In 2014, Jesse secured his Peace Officer license and added Arson Investigator to his list of titles. Jesse is an integral part of FMFD both at the station and in the community. For several years, he has been involved with coordinating the fire department’s breast cancer awareness fundraiser and is a member of the recently-formed Flower Mound Pipe and Drum band, in which he plays snare drum. When not at the station, Jesse enjoys spending time with his wife and their two boys.
