We dont know much about Ananias of Damascus in Acts 9:11, but the two things we do know, he was a man of prayer, and he understood the transformation that takes place in the heart of even a fearful and wicked man as Saul of Tarsus who has the reputation of being a murderer and persecutor of the church when He met the Lord. All God had to say to Ananias to relieve his fears and calm his nerves when he reacted negatively to the news that He wanted him to minister to Saul and lay his hands on him and pray for him was he prayeth. Praying people are a changed people. It is always evident when people pray, and it is also evident when people dont pray. Praying people can detect the presence of God when they come into contact with people who pray. Prayer is the breath of the Holy Spirit, and without prayer the Christian will die spiritually. Jesus not only taught His disciples to pray, He demonstrated it, as He did every thing that He taught. Prayer makes the Christian loving, humble, gentle, kind, caring, friendly, and patient. The absence of prayer makes one proud, unloving, harsh, uncaring, unfriendly and impatient. No wonder Ananiass fears were relieved when God told him that, Sauls praying now. We can all thank God that Ananias was a praying man! What a hero of the faith Paul became, because of a praying man who understood what prayer can do to transform the life of a man who was feared by all the Church, but learned to pray. kbm
