We dont want Elrufai as a BoT Member Kaduna APC cries out Kaduna APC Chieftains Kick Against El-Rufai’s Nomination As BoT Member By ISAIAH BENJAMIN Kaduna State chieftain and gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Salihu Mohammed Lukman and other stakeholders of the party have expressed displeasure at the nomination of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai as a member of the party’s Board of Trustees representing Kaduna State, describing it as undemocratic. According to the aggrieved party members, it is against the party’s constitution for the state chairman and secretary to make such nomination without consulting with other relevant stakeholders and the state executive of the party on who should represent the state as member of APC BoT. Alhaji Lukman who is also the director general of the APC Governors’ Forum, and the other party chieftains from the state made their position known while addressing newsmen in Kaduna at the weekend. He disclosed that he had already petitioned the party’s national executive committee over the anomaly, and called for due process to be followed in the nomination. He urged the committee to immediately inaugurate the state executive committee and the elders’ committee and dissolve the caretaker committee it formed in some local government areas as such action is unconstitutional. “We have highlighted building the party as the basis for winning elections. Each state is supposed to nominate a member for the board of trustee of the party but there are criteria to be met. The chairman of Kaduna state APC, Hon Barnabas Bala Bantex and the state secretary, Alhaji Bashir Saidu sent a letter to the national chairman of the party that Nasir el-Rufai is nominated to the BoT of the party, which amounts to lawlessness. “I have petitioned the national chairman of the party and copied other national leaders all local government party chairmen to know what is going on in our party. If Alhaji Bashir and Hon Bala Bantex cannot unbiased and neutral, they should resign their appointment. All organs of the party must be inaugurated immediately to enable the party start running. “The national headquarters would soon conduct the congresses in Kaduna South and Kubau local government areas, while the problems of over voting in Zaria, Sabongari, Ikara and Kudan should not stop the meeting of the executive committee. “All the local governments served letter on the appointment of caretaker committee should disregard it as such committee is not recognized by our party constitution. “The major pre-occupation of the state Chairman and Secretary alongside Alhaji Hunkiyi is campaigning for Mallam el-Rufai. They should kindly resign their positions if their singular political objective is the promotion of the candidature of Mall. el-Rufai.”
