We feel that it is important for us to be honest about the aspects - TopicsExpress

We feel that it is important for us to be honest about the aspects of this journey. There are a lot of things that we are excited about and looking forward to (like bringing our baby home). And there are a lot of things we are overwhelmed by and scared about (like the financials and length of time this could take). We want to share with you the estimated cost of the adoption so you all understand where the money is going and what the fees are. This way, you will also understand why fundraising is going to be an important part of this process. This is the base fee structure: Initial Join Fee-$9000 ($2500 is paid when we sign our contract and the remaining $6500 has to be paid within 6 months of signing the contract). Birthparent Services-$2000 (This is due when a birthmom chooses us, which could be any time after our homestudy is approved) Due at Birth-$2000 (Paid when baby is born) These are the possible additional fees: Background checks, medical expenses, pregnancy related expenses, travel expenses, potential out of state adoption fees, legal expenses. These fees could range anywhere from $6500-$14000 and are due as they occur. As you can see, the total we will pay could easily reach $25000, but we are bound and determined to figure it out.
