We had an amazing adventure today. Sandy and I rode bikes 4.5 - TopicsExpress

We had an amazing adventure today. Sandy and I rode bikes 4.5 miles on a great paved path that goes up the beach it was really beautiful, and the first time either of us had ridden in decades. Really, decades. When we got home, my heart sank when I realized my iPhone was missing. Sandy retraced our steps from the bike shop, checked around the shop, nothing. We were about to get in the car and drive as close as we could to the last beach we visited on the bikes, since we stopped in a shaded area there and I was lying down on a bench for a while, when I remembered I have the Find My Phone app on my phone. I fired up our mobile hotspot, signed in to iCloud on my laptop, and then the app, and there it was on a map! I couldnt tell exactly where those streets were, so we stopped at the library for help - there are always smart people in libraries. They confirmed that my phone was now well south of anywhere we had been today, so someone had it. We hopped back in the car and followed the signal 4 miles down to Lydgate Park. We couldnt tell exactly where it was, so Sandy called and we both listened for the ring, to no avail. All of a sudden the phone was on the move, out of the park and on a road up the hill! We hopped back in the car in hot pursuit, of whom, we wondered. For a few minutes the app wouldnt work, so we were left to ask strangers at a rest stop if anyone had found a phone. Nooooo. Suddenly Find My Phone started working again and we could see where it was, specifically, at a house. Sandy drove like a wild woman to the location, we hopped out, and headed for the door. I was feeling a little nervous at this point, what if they were thieves, and had no intention of returning my phone. What if, what if. Knock, Knock, Knock. A fellow came to the door, I showed him the map zeroed in on his house, and said my phone was in his home. He fetched it immediately. Turns out I left it at the far north end of the trail, when we were resting. He found it, and was concerned about leaving it where it might get stolen, so he took it with him 8.5 miles down the beach to the park where his truck was parked. His plan was to email me (my cards in the back) or call one of my contacts who might know where we are staying. I have never been so happy to meet a stranger in my life and gave him a big hug! Turns out he is a local artist, Peter Sardi, and quite charming. Filled with gratitude, we wended our way back down the hill, with another good story to tell you.
