We had no adoptions at the shelter today. Makes me sad. I thought I would share my story and how a very special adoption has changed my life... This is Doc (now Romeo). He was a Lancaster shelter dog last November and was in Mortal Danger. Some FB friend of mine shared his picture and for some reason, I COULDNT GET HIM OFF MY MIND!! I already had 2 big dogs, a cat, and 3 kiddos under the age of 4 and wasnt in the market. But something kept him pulling at my heartstrings... Anyway, it was his last day and no one was coming forward... NO ONE. My heart was pounding in my throat that day as I kept checking in on his post. I had called the shelter, talked to some rescues and I remember someone saying, hes just a great hound dog. You see, Romeo was no particular breed, he was a bigger dog and he was getting sick. Long story short... that great hound dog is the best dog ever!! He is my trusty sidekick, my kids childhood best friend and my other dogs playmate. I am so glad I listened to my heart. And its because of Romeo that I volunteer for this page so that many more Romeos can find their perfect homes. Please, listen to your heart and adopt or help by fostering. Its almost never the perfect time- but its always the perfect save. You not only save your new pet but you also open up his/her kennel for the next dog who hasnt yet found his/her home. And please dont wait till they become in Mortal Danger because other dogs lose out while you wait. Thanks for allowing me to share... -CJ
