We had some very disappointing and upsetting news regarding our EDS babies today. We took them to a specialist who reiterated what we had already learned through research on our own; unfortunately there is not much to be done for these sweet little babies. It also seems that on the different genetic mutations of EDS, that they are on the more severe side due to their appearance and symptoms. It is really just a matter of maintaining them, trying our best to avoid injury etc until if/when quality of life becomes an issue. Sweetness ( now renamed Piggy had to be put under anesthesia today for a wound on her leg to be cleaned and debrided. She will see a vet daily for bandage changes and maintenance and hopefully we can get her gash under control. These babies also face the chance of heart issues, joint issues etc. The great news is, For now they seem to know nothing else other than being happy, playful and affectionate puppies. They have amazing personalities and are two of the most gentle natured babies. You just want to snuggle them and eat them up! We have a tough request- although we dont want to separate them, the girls are at more risk for injury if they stay together, because they only want to play. We are looking for a vet or a vet tech, nurse, doctor etc who would be willing to forever foster/adopt one of the puppies. The other one will stay with their current amazing foster family. The reason we ask for a medical background is because these puppies can injure themselves daily. Its impossible to constantly take them to a vet, therefore a savvy medical person is better equipped to care for them.
