SUMMARY Ensure the smooth flow of operations within the engineering department by optimizing engineering design(s) for manufacturing process efficiency and effectiveness. Focus on minimizing number of parts in a product design to reduce cost, eliminate waste, and minimize opportunities for defects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Prepare engineering drawings, layouts and schematics using computer aided design software. 2.Create Bills of Material (BOM). 3.Select materials for engineered parts. 4.Dimension and tolerance drawings to ensure proper assembly fit. 5.Conform to drafting standards and department policies. 6.Prepare engineering change notices (ECN). 7.Consult and coordinate with suppliers. 8.Select parts needed to build assigned area of the vehicle. 9.Checks own work and that of others. 10.Works independently with minimal direction. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years related experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with CATIA V5 / Smarteam CAD software. Experience with CATIA Bend Part application.
