We have a lone blue heron that likes to hang out in our backyard er...backwaters. He usually appears along the harbor shore at dusk. This evening, I walked to our boat and watched the waters sparkle with the feeding of tiny fish as I heard his call. My eyes combed the shore for him. I stood motionless as he flew toward me and lit upon the dock next to our boat. For a minute or two we both stood and stared at eachother. He squawked his disapproval upon the loud footsteps of a distant passerby and he disappeared into the night. :-)
