We have an exciting new Faculty Vacancy in Composition here at the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Kindly spread the word! ER ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COMPOSITION (Emerging Media & Digital Arts, tenure-earning) Duties & Responsibilities: Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music composition in the Glenn Korff School of Music and as part of the Digital Arts Initiative in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. Instruct and mentor student composers with interests ranging from concert art music to scoring for media to jazz composition to songwriters to composition pedagogy, served by degree programs within the BM, BME, MM, and DMA. Also, teach and guide non-majors (one cross-disciplinary course per semester) via the Digital Arts Initiative. Work collaboratively teaching students across the fine and performing arts and other disciplines using technology and digital media as a bridge toward interdisciplinary creation. Such collaborations may include scoring for film and emerging media (interactive media, games, digitally enhanced/enabled live performance), visual arts, the sciences, humanities, and engineering. Assist with the organization and production of student new music concerts each semester. Recruit outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in music composition. Serve on graduate committees as needed. Research: Establish/maintain a program of outstanding productivity as a composer of music for a variety of media and/or live performance that contributes to the peer-reviewed national/international discussions of the discipline. Service: Serve on faculty committees (School, College, and University); serve in relevant and appropriate professional organizations (ASCAP, Society of Composers, Inc., Society of Composers and Lyricists, CMS, the Oscars, the Grammys, etc.). Conduct all duties in a collegial, ethical, and supportive fashion. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of the Glenn Korff School of Music.
