We have at least 1000 overseas basis - many (most?) leftovers from WWII, arguably without a clear mission for today … with the singular exception of supporting the Globalization Economy. Relatedly, we spent perhaps a Trillion Dollars annually in support of that Globalization Economy. I say this is backwards. Let the Globalization Economy - the real beneficiaries - support our Military. Consider that Trillion Dollars we spend is about 1 in 3 Federal Tax Dollars. Imagine if we could lower our tax payments by 1/3rd. Yes, the cost of imported goods would go way up, but the cost of home-brewed manufacturing would go down. Idealistic? Sure … but still a good idea imho.
