We have been trying to meet with the PC government since December - TopicsExpress

We have been trying to meet with the PC government since December 18th and no response as yet so we decided to send this email. Will keep you informed. From: JANICE SEELY To: Blaine Higgs Sent: Monday, January 27, 2014 10:11:30 PM Subject: Fw: Repeated request for meeting with Jan Seely and the NB Human Services Coalition Dear Minister Higgs, I wonder if you have had opportunity to look at your calendar to decide on a date to meet with us and/or give us an idea of when we could forward you some more information on our very important proposal of legislation for the Community Based Social Services Sector. Collectively, we are in the midst of a well planned communications campaign. Our website nbhumanservicescoalition/ has been launched, although still needing some work; a province wide petition has been circulated to the entire sector for signature in support of the proposed legislation and the possible commitment of a rally in May in Fredericton; our letter to the editor has appeared in all the major papers; and in the morning we will be doing a radio interview on CBC in the morning. We are meeting with the opposition and have had lengthy conversations with several other key stakeholders. Our goal is to find a political party/representative that takes this proposal seriously and has the courage and political will to bring it back to the table for proposal. We are not looking for a decision at this point, merely a serious commitment to listen intently and become fully educated on our mission. Once we have this commitment we will be releasing a press release at a press conference with all Community Based Social Services associations in our group represented and likely many workers, family members and even clients and residents present. We have been in talks at length with Premier Alward and things have stalled over the past few months and we have concluded that he doesnt take this proposal seriously. Possibly someone of your influence would be able to take this matter to the level it deserves and gain his interest better than we have. We are asking for your feedback and response, understanding the budget is taking priority right now. However, we hope you understand our issues are of a priority to us as well. Sincerely, Jan Seely, President NBSCHA on behalf of the NB Human Services Coalition
