If you are considering adopting, please be prepared to upgrade to a larger cage. In the wild, Hamsters spend the majority of their time running about and foraging for food. Your new hamster will be sent home with his own personal wheel to substitute this much needed activity. A happy hamster is a friendly hamster. Not only are they entertaining little pets, they are so much fun to shop for! There are so many great hamster hideaways and chew toys available that any hamster would love to have in his new home. Here are some interesting facts about Hamsters.. - Because Hamsters have poor vision, they learn their humans by scent and sound. If you socialize and bond with your Hamster properly, he will come when you call him, just like a dog! This comes in handy when your Hamster is sleeping and you want to wake him up. - Hamsters love to sit in their food when they eat/collect, so having a large enough bowl for this activity is recommended to keep your Hamster happy. Just make sure its shallow enough for your Hamster to crawl in and out of comfortably. - Some Hamsters can be litter box trained, just like cats! Chinchilla sand in a shallow container is used for this purpose. It is also used for sand baths, which is the only bath Hamsters should ever have. - Hamsters keep a food store, which is an area they carry food to for eating later! Its fun to watch your ham collect food in his pouches. Now you know what he does with it all!
