We have had a lot of new followers like our page over the past couple of weeks and sadly some have gotten NWER mixed up with other charities. So what better time like the present to welcome you all and let you know about us. North West Equine Rescue Inc. was formed in 2011 in a small NSW country town called Moree. It began on a large cotton property and covered all of regional NSW. NWER take in horses from all walks of life. Racehorses (both TB & STB), Quarter Horses, Arabs, Ponies, Mixed breeds and Heavies have all come through our doors, even the odd Lamb or Calf. Now days NWER operates out of 3 facilities located in Tamworth NSW, Armidale NSW & the Gold Coast QLD and covers all of NSW and lower QLD (both coastal and inland). Since opening the doors in 2011 we have had nearing 600 horses enter our care and currently have 16 horses in care. We take in young, old and In between, skinny, fat, tall and short and after rehabilitation they are rehomed to suitable homes. NWER have 2 trainers that work very hard to assess, handle, train and reeducate our horses. Both trainers work closely together for our Track2Hack program where OTT TBs & STBs are given a chance in the show ring. Since opening our doors we have tragically lost 5 horses, 2 were put to sleep due to medical reasons (1 due to impaction colic 1 due to organ failure), 2 due to injury (broken bones that could not be repaired) and 1 tragically passed away in the early hours of the morning due to IMTP DIC. NWER will never put down a horse just because they can or because funding runs out. We pride ourselves in being a NO KILL shelter. NWER is a fully registered Not-for-Profit charity with DGR status, this means donations of $2.00 or more are claimable on your tax return. We are heavily involved in Disaster Assistance in times of fire, flood & storm as well as having a drought assistance program. Our sources of income is through the generous donations of the public and fundraising. Yearly you will see us run auctions, raffles, and guessing games. We receive no government funding and no corporate funding. Our running costs go up and down every month depending on the amount of horses in care and what care they require however we average between $8000-$10000 every month. We have a website packed full of information and activities for the kids feel free check it out !! northwestequine.org.au/faq If anyone has any questions please ask away :) welcome to our page and I hope you enjoy your stay.
