We have performed Yes we Will many times & to here stories like this is a firm example of the medicine through music: A few days ago, I found myself being placed in the honorable role of end-of-life midwife with a man I did not know. He was a veteran with cancer, screwed by the system and angry at life. I was expecting to offer a session of spiritual/emotional counseling and energy work, but when I met David, it was clear that he was actively transitioning. I spent about forty-five minutes with him. In that time I rubbed his back and legs, moistened his mouth, offered energy healing and sang the only song that was in my head, Yes We Will. Over and over I sang, Are you pickin up now, better not look down... Yes we will, Yes we will! He smiled subtly and tried to focus his eyes on me. David made his transition a few hours afterward and I believe that the medicine in the music helped him go toward the light. It was an honor to get to be the earthly angel to swoop in during his passing and offer him some comfort. This Thursday I will dedicate my dance to Yes We Will to David. May his pure, radiant energy move through me and be a gift to all of you! And so it is! I hope to see my Portland community at Alberta Rose Theatre this Thursday at 7pm!
