We have reach the last day of 2014. It has been a very tough year with lots of challenges. Many lessons learned, realizing that it is not always smooth going and easy running an organization. That finding donations is sometimes very difficult due to other being dishonest and not using the goods donated for the cause its suppose to be for. as the founder of this organization I have faced the biggest challenges ever in my life during this year. Firstly I left Cape Town on the 5th of September to manage an Safe House in Johannesburg without any experienced but was willing. It taught me great life lessons, made me a stronger person and prepared me for what is ahead. Then just before I left there I was held up by knifepoint and was robbed. Coming back to Cape Town I decided to make many changes in my life. One of them was getting divorced after a marriage of 39 yrs. As I signed the last papers I received a phone call that my oldest son Gregory was murdered. This was one of the biggest events and trauma in my life. I have been a trauma counsellor for 10 years and worked with these things how many times but never ever thought it would happen in my family. Im taking day by day now because it a journey of much heartache. But 2015 will be a year of great thing from September 2014 till October this year YOTM was not active and we picked up again after my return from Johannesburg. In the last 3 months we did the following projects: 1. Jumpstart approached us and we had the opportunity to train 15 youth that finished matric last year or some years ago to received a 5 day course and workshop that was hosted at Ysterplaat Primary school. they all pass and are currently working at different branches of Mr Price. 2. We had a 2 day program with 200 kids from the community with Western Cape Educational Department and safer Schools. This was also hosted at Ysterplaat Primary school. The goal was to reach the kids and interact about different topics like peer pressure, bullying , substance and choices. It was lots of fun with games and teamwork and the highlight was a fashion show were they had to design a outfit from a black bag. 3. Soccer and clean up day in Joe Slovo !! 20 youth went for the day. The aim was to teach them to care for their communities by cleaning up the 2 soccer courts. Afterwards they played 5 a side soccer against Langa, Du Noon, Joe Slovo and other teams. The spirit amongst them were awesome. Each player received food and a bucket of groceries worth R200.00 to take home. 4. YOTM, Ribbons of Joy and Mitchells Mission had a community even at Martin Adams hall were the aim was to bring the community tighter and let people be able to expose their talents and make some money. YOTM were responsible for media coverage, celebrities and judges for the Fashion show. The day was a great success with amazing feedback, people earning some extra money and asking for more of these community events. 5. We received many request for assistance for clothing, food and money for important stuff like electricity and transport to hospitals. we were able to help many. Sorting out clothing for the kids for Christmas. We also got a request from Carol Prins that she found on Western Cape Traffic about Aiden that against all the odds and what his been through decided to stop and go back to school. He will be in matric next year. Together with amazing people like Lana Rolfe ,Mark Rolfe, Lizbe Kotze and Rene Scholtz made it happen. One very happy boy and send me a beautiful Whats up message thanking everyone for making his birthday so special. He also received a cell phone with a R 100.00 airtime. Thank you all. 2015 is going to be a awesome year. To start with we have Pro Star Netball Academy on board and going to train young girls to become achievers. We have a NPO working and training soccer . So we are very excited for what is ahead. We welcome anyone that want to get involved with our organization to please do so. IF YOU HAVE ANY BACKGROUND IN ANY TRAINING OF SKILLS, WORKSHOPS PLEASE CONTACT US. HELP US TO BRING A NEW VISION TO OUR YOUTH. Thank you Carol Prins for all the work behind the scenes, for going the extra mile always to help. We at YOTM appreciate you and all you do. THANK YOU to each and everyone that made our projects possible, who gave so freely of your time, donations in food stuffs so that we could assist the families. YOTM has no money and never worried about it because we ask our donors to be involved and be the person giving were its needed . and we solely dependant on God and the public. THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS, GIVING SPIRIT AND MOSTLY FOR BELIEVING IN US ALTHOUGH SOME WANTS TO BRING US DOWN.
