We have revamped the Commander league! Starting next week, these will be the new rules, prizes, and achievements. Please note that there is now a $2 weekly fee to play in the Commander league. Organized Play Details When: League nights occur every Tuesday at 5 p.m.; League games may be played throughout the week among league members in good standing. Entry Fees: $2/week. League Rules The basic rules for EDH/Commander games can be found at mtgcommander.net. We are using the following house rules as well. League Fees Before participating in any official league games, players must pay a weekly league fee of $2. (The week starts on Tuesdays. Most people will just pay their fee before the tournaments start on league nights and thus be eligible for games for the rest of the week. However, if one misses a league night, one may still play for the remainder of the week between league nights if they pay their fee before playing any league games.) Prizes Prizing will consist of store credit equal to the entry fees paid per week. Half of the prizing will be awarded every week for top finishers during the weekly league night tournament, and the other half will be used for a monthly prize pool. Every three months, the top players from previous months will be declared Team Captain, and may pick 1 (one) other player, who is not also a team captain, to earn points with. Both of these players will earn points for their team in official games during the last month, and at the end of the month, the team with the most points will be awarded one playmat each. League Points You earn 1 league point for every person eliminated before you in an official league game. (League games are only official if both players paid their weekly league fees and if games are played in the store.) Thus, if you win a 1v1 game, you earn 1 point, two points if you win a 3-player game, etc. Winning a league night tournament overall earns you 5 league points. Earning an achievement during a league game earns you 1 league point. Official League Games Official games can be played any time during the week during business hours, on-site at The Geekery, and among players who have paid their league fees for the week. Weekly prizing is only available during the weekly league tournament. Games played outside the weekly tournament count toward monthly standings. Infinite Combos We know. Some of you love your degenerate decks and infinite combos. However, EDH is supposed to be fun for everyone. Its a casual format! So, if its important to you to still run your favorite infi-combo, youre welcome to do so, but if you execute your infinite combo, you earn (and suffer the consequences of) the Eject the Warp Core achievement (see below). An infinite combo is defined as a game state in which a set of actions could be repeated forever. (Example: Stuffy Doll + Guilty Conscience.) Achievements Each achievement below can be earned once per game. Obtaining an achievement grants the player +1 league points for the month, with the exception of infinite combo achievement (Last achievement listed below). These achievements will be revised on a regular basis. Participate in a stack thats five or more spells deep. Counter a target spell thats countering your target spell.
