We have several part-time positions at the USS SIlversides Museum which would be perfect for college students or stay at home moms or early retirees looking to earn a few extra bucks - but unable to put in a lot of hours. USS SILVERSIDES Submarine Museum is looking for Tour Guides to provide a first class customer service experience by leading groups of guests through a guided walking tour of the museum and/or assigned exhibits (ships, vessels, and exhibit spaces). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Greeting guests as they enter assigned exhibit or waiting areas. • Guiding guests through assigned exhibits, ensuring smooth, swift flow of traffic. • Ensuring safety of the visiting public while waiting, on tour, or in assigned exhibit. • Providing facts and historical information about museum, ships, equipment, and artifacts, pointing out features of interest and answering questions. • Clearly communicating the mission and message of the USS SILVERSIDES Submarine Museum to the guest. • Providing a high level of customer service for the guest, resolving problems, answering questions, and referring problems to the supervisor as necessary to ensure a pleasant experience. • Informing guests, when necessary, of museum events and answering general questions regarding museum experience and layout. • Ensuring cleanliness of assigned exhibit and waiting area, performing light cleaning (picking up scraps, paper, etc.) and informing supervisor of need for additional cleaning. • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or six months or more of related tour guide/ customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent customer service skills, experience working with the public and the ability to work some weekends, nights and less observed holidays are favorable. Museum Store Attendants will greet customers, assist with purchases, and run a cash register. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service. • Assist in ringing up sales at registers and/or bagging merchandise. • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor stock. • Aid customers in locating merchandise. • Communicate customer requests to management. • Assist in completing price changes within the department. • Participate in year-end inventory and cycle counts. • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager. Associates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) no other experience needed, we will train.
