We have spent the last 2 days learning about the childrens whanua heritage. They can grow up very proud that they descend from some very important figures in Maori history. Their ancestors travelled to England to confront King George on the mistreatment of the Maori people & eventually secured the Waitangi Treaty. We have just left the birth place of the most famous of Maoris Hakas & the home of Te Wharerangi. It has been a fascinating trip & we are all exhausted.
