We have wonderful news to share, joy that comes rarely but when it does it seems to overpower everything else, as it should. Several weeks ago Neil returned on a Tuesday from Indonesia, got up the next day put on his Armani suit (which is the story for another day) and went to a 9 AM job interview. After lunch he got the call and was offered the job. He was the unanimous choice of the selection committee. Neil was offered and has accepted the position of Professor with the University of Queensland. To make a long story short, after 16 years with Griffith University he has made the leap to one of Australia’s top universities. But the sweetness of it all is because after so many years of loyalty to Griffith, an enviable track record in research, publications, teaching and continued success in securing research funding he was denied the promotion to full Professor at Griffith late last year. So maybe just maybe good guys really do win in the end. It is hard to believe anyone could be more deserving and he still hasn’t stopped smiling. So here’s a few photos of the first of many celebrations for this fantastic endorsement of his contributions to the urban planning profession.
