We here in New London are getting a huge treat this week. Blood Orange, one of the hottest young acts in the country right now, is playing the Hygienic Art Park on Saturday night. Yes, THIS Saturday! Just to give you an idea of how big a deal it is, Blood Orange just finished scoring the new James Franco film, Palo Alto. He also performed on Fallon with Solange (yeah, Jay-Zs sister-in-law/attacker) and his new album features Dirty Projectors and Chairlift, among others. Dev, Sam and crew have been kind enough to take time between selling out venues everywhere to play in our little city for a local benefit. The money raised goes towards The Robert J. Urbani III Memorial Scholarship Fund, which aims to improve the lives of gifted yet under privileged children, through creating a memorial scholarship to the UCONN Mentor Connection. The ticket price is $20. Yes, $20. Thats what normal people pay in actual cities for real shows. But seriously, its for a great cause and you get an awesome show in return! Oh yeah, Fake Babies are playing one of their only shows this summer too! So yeah, please RSVP to the event: Blood Orange, Samantha Urbani dj set, plus Fake Babies & special guests and feel free to share it and Ill buy you a beer at the afterparty. And, more importantly, GO!
