We just got a message from a cyclist whom has transferred to us - TopicsExpress

We just got a message from a cyclist whom has transferred to us for the Ring of Kerry charity cycle. This was their reason behind selecting us. I was on the cycle against suicide last week where a brave motorcycle marshal, Brendan O Connell from Tralee lost his life while protecting ours so I thought you would be a good charity to honor his memory. As you know we covered this event when they arrived in Kerry as a sea of orange descended through the county, and shoulder to shoulder we all stood with one message, its ok not to feel ok. And we will do the same on July 5th and every other day of the year too. The message will not fall silent. The following is an extract from Jim Breen about the cycle against suicide event One query asked of me earlier in the week came into my mind. “Is this just a bubble?” was the question. “Is Cycle Against Suicide just a temporary bubble?” It was an authentic question wrapped up in a naked honesty. And tonight, as I write from my room in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk, I think about this. Are we in a bubble here, this body of thousands of Cycle Against Suicide cyclists? Are the towns we visit, the people who welcome us and the stories we hear part of the bubble too? And when the silence of the night falls on Day Fourteen, and our Cycle is complete; will our message fall silent as well? I know the answer. Cycle Against Suicide is not a bubble. Cycle Against Suicide is not a two week cycling jaunt. Cycle Against Suicide is not some charismatic movement on its annual fortnight out. Cycle Against Suicide is a visible reminder every year to the island of Ireland of what must be lived out every day of the year on the island of Ireland; it’s ok not to feel ok and it is absolutely ok to ask for help.
